Lay People need to stand firm and speak up when challenged about issues which go against the Church.  We are all called to be holy, we are all told by Jesus to take up our cross and follow Him.  We all have the right to speak up and see that our priests teach the fullness of faith and that our lay instructors do likewise.

St. John Chrysostom (347-407) already in his time spoke out against vice even when it caused him to be exiled and ill-treated in all manner of ways.  He spoke of the need of laity to save the Church since laity, as the faithful, must act as the faithful.  Bishops, he recognized act as shepherds by God’s Will.  But we must act as the faithful.  The late Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen restated this obligation of the faithful to be faithful in these words:

“Who is going to save our Church?  Not our bishops, not our Priests and religious.  It is up to the people.  You have the minds, the eyes, the ears to save the Church.  Your mission is to see that your priests act like priests, your bishops like bishops and your religious like religious.”

We all are called to use our gifts to do God’s Will.  Are you using your gift or talent in your own way to bring people to Christ and His true Church?  Concentrate and focus,  become apostolic and live your faith to the fullest.
